Be the brand AI recommends when shoppers ask
'Which brand should I buy?' is now a question people ask AI. The answer names a handful of brands. Independent brands can win it, if AI can find the right facts about them.
What we see
AI shoppers are worth more
AI-referred visits to US retail sites grew 393% in a year, and they convert 42% better than other traffic (Adobe, 2026).
Two engines, two reasons
ChatGPT mostly searches the web before answering; Gemini mostly answers from what it learned. A brand can be strong in one and missing in the other.
Lists and retailers decide
AI answers lean on editorial lists, retailer pages and expert sites, and 88% of Google's AI summaries cite three or more sources (Pew Research, 2025). Being on those pages is part of AI visibility.
Wording matters
We regularly find brands that sell exactly what shoppers ask for, described in different words, so AI doesn't connect the two.
Example
What a finding looks like
Customer question
“Best non-toxic, plant-based room spray?”
Gemini recommends this home-fragrance brand by name. ChatGPT, which searches the web live, recommends others.
Why: ChatGPT looked up safety ratings and certifications (EWG, MADE SAFE, EPA Safer Choice). The brand's homepage mentions none of them.
